The Lego WALL-E set is probably my favorite Lego set of all time, but all things must come to an end eventually... Or at least for now. He hath been dismantled, because he consists of my entire collection of flame yellowish orange pieces, which I need to make an Oriole. When I’m done with the Oriole, I’ll probably put WALL-E back together again, because why not? ‘Tis the circle of Lego.

So wouldn’t it be: Rest In Peace, In Pieces.

Only if the original title said “ RIP in pieces”

Is it really
normal for people to take apart the lego sets they put together?

It’s not typical for an adult to dis assemble a completed set. However, many kids will follow the instructions to a completed model, play with it a few days, then disassemble it to use the bricks for other projects. My son never kept a set together for more than a few days. He preferred to make up new designs out of his own imagination.

M ike is that you?
(Mike was a kid way back in my kindergarten class. One day he brought in a Lego creation for show & tell... I don’t even remember what it was that he had built , but he had glued the p ieces together .

I watched Wall-E for the first time the other night. I don't remember people talking much about that movie, but that was really good, and had a poignant story to it. Kind of surprised it doesn't get more love.

Yeah, I get that...I was thinking of an alternative to the title.

No. But this is temporary disassembly for the sake of building a birb.

This is against the Lego Rule of X = n+1 where X is the number of bricks you own now and n is the number of bricks you own .

My oldest son will build the set then set right off on dismantling it so he can master build it. So yeah, he does, but my other two boys build and play with their sets. And I build and display mine.

This is certainly how I played with them as a kid.

If I lose interest in the set, then yes.

I’ve been doing it since I was a kid. Sometimes I keep the set together. Sometimes I modify it. Sometimes I rip it completely apart and use it for my own creations.

I still do it. Sacrifices have to be made!

I started doing it as a kid, and still do it. Very few sets survived childhood complete and unmodified. I can think of two.

As of now, I’ve completed the oriole and a robin! I’ll reveal them when I’ve completed more for another bird watching post.
